Many thanks to our friend Sondre at Kustomrama for posting this photo on our messageboard. He's archiving some really great photos taken in the mid to late 60's, many of which are San Fernando Valley cars painted by Joe Andersen. Here we have Jim Arkin's beautiful rainbow painted 65 Impala in front of Ron & Dick's shop in 1966. Fully shaved, chrome reversed wheels with baby moons, hydraulic lifts installed by Ron & Dick. When lowriders were customs and customs were lowriders.
Joe Andersen is the founder of our club, Embers So. Cal. he is the guy responsible for lace painting, cobwebbing and the spider cap. for some reason his website is down right now, but there are some cool pics on there. i have some really neat pics of some cars he did back in the day in my personal archives that i can share if you like. i've always said that Joe is the most influential painter you never heard of. He's still at it to this day.
ReplyDeleteI have added some new photos to the Joe Andersen thread on the message board, showing Jim's Impala after Joe painted it black pearl with cobwebbing along the sides:
